After an interim period, Emma Swain now the new permanent head of commissioning at BBC Knowledge division.

Emma Swain is the new head of commissioning at BBC Knowledge (DStv 251), replacing George Entwistle.

She was promoted to the position in February already on a temporary basis and is now in charge for leading BBC Knowledge's strategy regarding the commissioning of all factual programming. Emma Swain will be in charge of what programmes are commissioned by BBC Knowledge in the genres of arts, music, history, natural history, business, science and religion in this BBC division.

"The BBC produces the best factual programmes in the world and it's a great privilege to be given this role, with responsibility for maintaining the high standards and quality of Knowledge output that our viewers have come to expect,'' says Emma Swain in a BBC press release.
